Participating in Moot Court is an ideal way for students to enhance their legal education by developing their written and oral advocacy skills. Every year, Georgia State Law sends teams to intercollegiate competitions that focus on different areas of law. Georgia State Law Moot Court teams have an excellent record in national competitions. Many graduates of the program go on to become distinguished litigators and district attorneys.
Benefits
- Moot Court board members travel to various cities around the nation, connect with students from other schools and match skills in lively debate.
- Moot Court provides students with essential experience that greatly benefits them throughout their legal careers.
- Moot Court is a highly regarded organization among employers.
Competitions
This exciting and challenging forum gives students an opportunity to develop their critical thinking, writing and public speaking skills. Each Moot Court team prepares a persuasive brief, arguing for either the Petitioner or Respondent in a hypothetical appellate case. The teams travel to a host city to argue their cases before a panel of judges. Moot court is a measure of students' knowledge, skills, and maturity.
