- Biography
John P. Thielman teaches business law classes in the undergraduate, Flex-MBA, Professional MBA, and Executive MBA programs. Thielman serves as the associate director of the Center for the Economic Analysis of Risk (CEAR), the associate chair of the Department of Risk Management & Insurance, and the executive director of the GSU Risk Management Foundation.
Dr. Thielman is a former prosecutor, chief counsel with a Fortune 500 insurance company, managing attorney, and trial attorney. He is a subject matter expert on litigation, litigation management, insurance, alternative dispute resolution, the legal environment of business, and ethics. He is a registered neutral with the Georgia Administrative Office of the Courts and the Commission on Dispute Resolution. He is available to serve as a mediator in the Greater Atlanta area. Thielman is licensed to practice law in Georgia, Florida, New York, and Massachusetts.
Dr. Thielman received his juris doctor, cum laude, from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law. He also holds a BA in psychology from Boston University.
