Álvaro Pereira is an assistant professor of law at Georgia State University College of Law. His research focuses on the evolution of corporate law. In particular, how changes in legal rules and practices shape the development of startup and venture capital ecosystems, and the construction of sustainable economies.
Prior to joining the College of Law, Professor Pereira was a Lecturer (which is the UK equivalent of tenure-track assistant professor) of commercial, corporate, and banking law at the University of Leeds (UK), Max Weber Postdoctoral Fellow at the European University Institute (Italy), academic visitor at the University of Oxford (United Kingdom), and adjunct lecturer at various institutions in the Americas.
Before that, he practiced law in Latin America, focusing on foreign investments, and corporate and bankruptcy litigation.
