On September 29, 2022, Dr. Susan Smelcer participated in the Renaissance Computing Institute (RENCI) Law & Data Science Conference (funded by the National Science Foundation). Judges, scholars, and practitioners from across the country joined together to discuss the intersection between data science and the law and brainstorm grant proposals and collaborations.
Dr. Smelcer discussed the challenges and strategies for teaching statistics and data science to law students. She highlighted the Legal Analytics curricular pathway at Georgia State University and the courses that she offers to prepare students for data-driven legal careers.
