The BLECKLEY INN OF COURT is accepting applications for 12 new Pupils for the 2022-23 academic year.
The Bleckley Inn is a chapter of the American Inns of Court, a national organization dedicated to improving the quality and professionalism of trial practice. The Bleckley Inn is affiliated with Georgia State University College of Law and is administered by Professors Kelly Timmons and Maggie Vath.
Now in its 32nd year, the Bleckley Inn includes approximately 90 judges, lawyers, and law students. The Masters include some of the finest judges and trial lawyers in the Atlanta area. The Inn has seven meetings a year, all of them on Monday evenings. (Selected students are expected to keep their Monday nights free, meaning that they cannot take a Monday evening class either semester.) Five of the meetings are devoted to programs that explore substantive and ethical issues in litigation. The other two meetings are purely social.
The Bleckley Inn provides participating students with an unmatched opportunity to get to know and learn from respected and accomplished members of the bench and bar. For anyone considering a career in litigation, the Bleckley Inn experience is a great place to start.
In selecting pupils, we are looking for students with strong academic credentials and demonstrated interest in litigation. Applicants must be in their last full year of law studies during 2022-23. Applications for the Inn of Court should be submitted via email to kctimmons@gsu.edu. The deadline for applications is Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 5 p.m.
If you have any questions about the Bleckley Inn, please contact Professor Timmons, kctimmons@gsu.edu, or Professor Vath, mvath@gsu.edu.
One final point: If you plan to graduate in December 2022, you may still be able to participate in the Inn. Contact Professor Timmons to find out the details.
