Did you miss the Student Health Law Association Welcome and Information sessions last week? If so, watch the video for an introduction to the health law program. The events offered students the opportunity to meet health law faculty, learn more about Georgia State Law’s nationally-ranked health law certificate program and other educational offerings, hear about upcoming events, and potentially get more involved with the SHLA Board as an officer.
Here are some important announcements:
1L BOARD POSITIONS
Attached is the application for the 1L Board Positions. If you are interested in applying, please return your completed application no later than Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020, at 5 p.m. EST. This is a great opportunity to get involved with SHLA, meet health law faculty and students, and build your resume. Please email if you have any questions.
HeLP CLINIC APPLICATIONS
HeLP Clinic applications will be released on September 16. The clinic is a hands-on opportunity to serve clients in the community and to work with medical students and graduate students to best serve these clients. Avery Minnick (2L President), Yasamine Jalinouszadeh (VP of Student Outreach) and Fanny Chac (VP of Programming) all have clinic experience, so please reach out to one of them if you have any questions.
Additionally, to see how the HeLP Clinic has adapted to practicing during a pandemic, read the article here.
DUES
Under our Early Bird Special (which runs until September 9, 2020), dues are $10. After September 9, they will increase to $15. Membership gives you access to SHLA members-only events (such as Lunch with a Professor) and networking opportunities. Email for more information.
MENTOR PROGRAM SURVEYS
Please keep an eye out for a future email containing a link to the Mentor Program needs assessment survey. Avery Minnick will be working with Associate Director Stacie Kershner and her GRA, Jennifer, to build out this program in the coming months to serve you as students.
