I have written on a number of conceptual and normative issues in the area where moral, legal and political philosophy intersect–particularly, obedience, authority, legitimacy, obligation, coercion, and privacy. My current interests include responsibility, control, desert, and punishment. I am also trying to account for the relationship between moral reasons and moral requirements, to make sense of how value pluralism might work, and to complete a critical inventory of logical gaps in morality. Lastly, I am struggling to figure out how to reconcile a neo-Aristotelian understanding of ethics with the teachings of biology.
