Strategies Civ Pro Doesn’t Teach You

    No doubt about it, Civil Procedure teaches you a lot of rules. From serving defendants to motions practice to handling discovery, Civ Pro is all about what rules apply in specific situations. This should come as no surprise to anyone here at the College of Law, since all of us have had our fair share (and, in some cases, our fill) of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. 
Naturally all of these rules are helpful, of course, especially for someone like me who came to law school specifically to pursue a career as a trial lawyer, because the rules are best used to strategize in litigation. But as I sat in Civ Pro last year, knowing that the class was important and a framework for future practice, my mind often began to wander...
