 President's Farewell
by Erin Baird Secluded within the
four walls of the SBA office on a Monday evening, I sit before an empty computer
screen. As the twilight nestles over Piedmont Avenue below, a sadness
settles in my heart. Today is the last day of my Presidency.
Some days, when it seemed
there was never enough time to get everything done, I found relief in knowing
today would come. But now, as my final words fill the page, I find there
is so much more I needed to say...so much more I wanted to do. Alas, all
things must end.
Serving as your President
has been one of the most amazing experiences of my life, and it is with great
humility that I thank you for extending me this tremendous honor. You
entrusted me with enormous responsibility, and for that I am grateful.
Oscar Wilde once said,
"Some cause happiness wherever they go; others, whenever they
go." As I complete my leadership here at GSU College of Law, it is my
hope that my memory, not my absence, leaves you smiling.
With boundless appreciation,
Erin (:
