Spring 2003 Party With a Purpose
by Erin Baird On Friday, March 14,
2003, the SBA hosted its second "Party With a Purpose" to further our
commitment to community service here at GSU College of Law. This
semester's bash, held at Manuel's Tavern in the Highlands, drew a packed house
of students and faculty, eager to take advantage of the pitchers of free
beer. In keeping with the theme of giving, the festivities had a St.
Patrick's Day theme to share the luck with those who are less fortunate.
Donations were collected the week prior to the party to provide for our local
homeless population. Students brought in clothing, toiletries, blankets,
luggage, and canned food to help replenish the area shelters after an unusually
hard winter. The following week, the SBA delivered an entire carload of
supplies to the appreciative staff at the Odyssey shelter on Decatur
Street. Thanks to all who participated in this successful event!
