Windows® Vista® Transition Information

The College of Law offers only limited support for student PCs and laptops. Georgia State University and the College of Law are not currently supporting Vista. Since all new laptops and PCs now include Windows Vista, this page will serve as a central location for Windows Vista tips, tricks and problems.

Reported Problems (and possible fixes):

• Cannot access e-mail via https://www.student.gsu.edu/ - do one of the following:

  • Under menu: "Tools" / "Internet Options" / "Advanced" tab, enable (check) the "Use SSL 2.0" option, or,
  • Go directly to https://webmail.student.gsu.edu/ , or,
  • Install FireFox web browser

• CatChat wireless login system

  • If you are trying to reach a page where the URL begins with "https", the CatChat Bluesocket login screen will not show up. This affects both Internet Explorer 7 and FireFox 2.x. The fix is to first go to a website that does not require "https" in the URL - once logged in you can go to pages starting wth "https".
