SAIICA Eligibility

The program welcomes applications from law students at any American Bar Association-approved law school in the United States or by the accreditation agency of the state in which it is located. Students must have completed an entire year of law study to be eligible for the program. Second-semester first-years may apply for the program, but enrollment is dependent on the successful completion of the spring semester. Program size is limited, so participants are encouraged to apply early. Participation is contingent upon acceptance into the program.

Registration and Information

To apply for participation in the Summer Academy in International Commercial Arbitration, the following must be received by Monday, Feb. 4:

  • Completed application
  • For non-Georgia State University students, a completed transient student application form AND a letter of good standing from your home institution. (These materials are not needed if Georgia State is your home university.)
  • Deposit payment of $800, which includes a nonrefundable $500 program fee. Money orders or cashier's checks should be made payable to Georgia State University. Personal checks and credit card payments are accepted.

Upon notification of acceptance, students who do not attend Georgia State University and seek transient/visiting student status in order to receive academic credit for the program will be required to provide all of the following to Georgia State University (if they have not already done so):

  • A letter of good standing and permission to attend from the Registrar's Office of the current/home institution.
  • A statement of residency status from the Registrar's Office of the current/home institution.

Note that accepted students will be enrolled into courses offered by the Summer Academy in International Commercial Arbitration on a first-come, first-served basis. Because program size is limited, prospective students should apply early. No application is complete and no applicant is guaranteed participation in the program until all financial obligations, including program costs and University tuition, are met.

Students will be notified of acceptance by Friday, Feb. 15.

Orientation will be provided at Georgia State University during spring semester, at a date to be announced; all students in the Atlanta area – whether Georgia State students or not – are expected to attend this orientation. An additional mandatory orientation for all student participants will be conducted during the first weekend in Linz, Austria.
