On behalf of the Student Bar Association, welcome to Georgia State University College of Law!
Law school has been the most challenging thing I have ever done and it has created opportunities for me that I never considered. It has given me strength and knowledge that changed the lens through which I view the world. It’s an environment that challenges you to be your best and allows you to meet other intelligent and creative minds. Some of my best friends are people I have met through law school through study groups, student organizations and social events.
Every entering student has the potential to network with more than a hundred attorneys. We are your classmates today, and one day we will be out in practice. For many of us, our clients will come from referrals made by friends and those that know our workmanship. Don’t leave law school without knowing who your classmates are and letting them get to know you. The person sitting across from you during an interview may be a recent alumnus or former visiting speaker..
The friendships you make here will last through law school and beyond. We’ve seen each other through ups and downs and share an experience like no other. Come let your hair down at one of our great events this year.
Some of our annual events include:
• Fall Welcome Back: Semester Kick-Off
• Halloween Party
• Holiday Party
• Spring Welcome Back: Semester Kick-Off
• "Barely Legal" Softball Tournament (with John Marshall, Emory, and UGA)
• Talent Show
• Law Week
• Barristers’ Ball
New events this year include:
• Law School Trifecta (mixer with Emory and John Marshall)
• Law and Business School Mixer (co-hosted with the Robinson College of Business)
• Volunteer Day
The mission of the SBA is to serve the student body as an advocate of all academic concerns, a promoter of student life, and a coordinator of peripheral functions that are integral to the achievement of academic excellence. SBA board members will gladly field your questions and concerns and relay the information to faculty and staff.
Our aim is to help you get the most out of your time here at Georgia State Law. Please let us know how we can make your experience better. Join SBA on Facebook or visit our website for the latest updates on events or to contact us. I look forward to seeing you around campus and at our events.
Congratulations and good luck!
Best,
Michelli Rivera
