Summer Academy in International Commercial Arbitration
Law Students at ABA Accredited Institutions:Spend Summer Semester 2010 in Europe!Registration for the 2010 Summer Academy in International Commercial Arbitration is open to interested students, and a tuition reduction to the level of in-state rates is available this year for qualified law students not resident in Georgia. The Summer Academy in International Commercial Arbitration is offered as a six credit hour study program based in Linz in Upper Austria (near Vienna and Salzburg) and this year will feature portions of its program in Vienna, Salzburg, Budapest, Passau, Venice, Krumlov in the Czech Republic, and Dubrovnik on the Croatian Adriatic coast. Scheduled for the period May 14 through June 13, 2010, the program of the Academy offers two specialized Seminars in international commercial arbitration, the predominate method of dispute resolution in international trade transactions. Successful completion of these seminars will result in the award to the participating student of six (6) semester credit hours. While Tuition has not yet been formally determined for 2010 by the Georgia Board of Regents, the estimated GSU in-state tuition (available to ALL participants regardless of residence) for summer 2010 will be $3345 for the six credit hours; the cost of the program (hotel, ground program, ground transportation in and around Europe, excursions, and many meals) is a low $2,990 (less than $100 a day for the experience of a lifetime). Financial Aid is available to students otherwise qualifying under guidelines from the GSU Financial Aid Office. The program is also available to qualifying law students from other universities. The program welcomes qualifying law students from other universities as well as to law students who are non-Georgia residents: last year these students paid only an additional $250 administrative fee in order to qualify for low in-state tuition rates, as well as an additional $57 technology fee which was assessed by GSU from all students in all programs. The Summer Academy in International Commercial Arbitration (SAIICA) has been sponsored by Georgia State University College of Law since 1994 and today enjoys the co-sponsorship of Johannes Kepler University of Linz, Austria. The program annually enrolls approximately 35-40 students in its activities which are concentrated at a variety of locales in central Europe. An outstanding faculty drawn from Europe and the United States supports the Program and includes senior officers of several of the most important arbitration courts of central Europe.
