Margaret Hughes Vath, senior lecturer of law, earned her J.D. from Villanova University School of Law and her B.A. in English/Journalism with a minor in vocal music from the University of Delaware, where she graduated cum laude. Always learning, Professor Vath is pursuing a doctoral degree in English/Composition & Rhetoric from Georgia State University.
Professor Vath is a member of the Georgia Bar and is admitted to practice in all Georgia state courts, the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia, and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Before academia, Professor Vath was in private practice at large and mid-sized Buckhead firms where she focused on civil litigation and corporate governance.
An avid volunteer, Professor Vath is a Past-President of the Atlanta Bar Association, an Atlanta Bar Foundation Board Member, and the long-time producer of the charitable fundraiser "A Courthouse Line," an all-lawyer musical comedy parody.
Professor Vath has been teaching legal writing at Georgia State University College of Law for nearly 15 years. She teaches Legal Writing & Analysis for LL. M. Students, Lawyering: Practice-Ready Writing, and is the Director of the Lawyering: Foundations Program.
