Madison Burnett (J.D. ’09) is the assistant general counsel in the Office of Legal Affairs at Georgia State University.
Before joining the Office of Legal Affairs, Burnett was an associate in the Insurance Group at Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi LLP, where she served business and insurance industry clients who were involved in complex contractual disputes and commercial litigation. She frequently represented pro bono clients through the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation and was recognized as the 2012 Volunteer of the Year.
Burnett is an Atlanta native, she graduated cum laude from Georgia State University College of Law in 2009, where she served as the associate editor of Law Review. She founded the Georgia State student chapter of Law Students for Reproductive Justice and served as the organization’s national board president.
Burnett received the first Georgia State Health Law Partnership Legal Service Clinic Award and the CALI award for Civil Procedure. Before law school she worked for the city of New York in welfare and food stamps policy.
