Joe Fernander

Library Technical Assistant
Biography

After spending many years in retail, Joe realized the perfect intersection between his customer service skills, love for books & knowledge and his liberal arts degree was a career in the library. Joe joined the Law Library in 2013 and diligently works in the circulation department checking out books, booking and checking out study rooms for law students, and providing access to library reserve materials such as course textbooks, laptop chargers, leisure videos (big fan of The Walking Dead & Breaking Bad) and other study aids. Behind the scenes, Joe processes GIL Express requests, faculty requests, and aids in training and supervising undergraduate student assistants.

Joe graduated from Georgia State University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies & Philosophy and plans on pursuing a Masters of Library and Information Science degree in 2015. Joe’s primary interest include access services, information ethics, library technology, and open access. Joe is a member of the American Library Association (ALA) and the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL).
