This Study Space Program took place in Istanbul, Turkey, Study Space is a week-long intensive workshop, in which scholars from a variety of disciplines come together with government and private sector professionals to develop solutions to legal, social and policy challenges being faced in urban areas.
This program was a joint project with Bahcesehir University in Istanbul, Turkey in cooperation with the Payson Center for International Development at Tulane University Law School in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The articles associated with this program are forthcoming and will be published in the Bahcesehir University Law Review in both Turkish and English.
Dr. Chris Nelson explained the demographic changes that are occurring in the United States and the impact on America's housing supply. Dr. Nelson is the Presidential Professor of City and Metropolitan Planning and Director of the Metropolitan Research Center at the University of Utah.
This one-day symposium examined the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' process of river management, and its effect on Georgia's water supply planning and development, including an update on the tri-state water war. The symposium was a tribute to Professor Jim Bross and his achievements in the fields of water and natural resources law. 6 hours of CLE credit were available for this program.
This program was a collaboration between the GSU Law Review, GSU Law's Center for the Comparative Study of Metropolitan Growth, and King & Spalding in Midtown Atlanta. A dedicated edition of the GSU Law Review is forthcoming.
This panel discussion featured three distinguished speakers: Colin Crawford, Robert C. Cudd Professor of Law and Executive Director of the Payson Center for International Development at Tulane Law School; Romulo Sampaio, Professor of Environmental Law and Academic Coordinator for the Center for Environmental Law at FGV in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and; Paulo Affonso Leme Machado, Professor of Law at Methodist University of Piracicaba in Sao Paulo, Brazil and father of environmental law in Brazil. This panel discussion was a follow up to the Rio+20 conference held in Summer 2012 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Dr. Juli Ponce Sole, Professor of Law and Vice Dean at the University of Barcelona, presented to the Urban Fellows students and faculty. He is an expert on urban law and policy, especially on affordable housing issues.
The Center for the Comparative Study of Metropolitan Growth was a co-sponsor for the Growth & Infrastructure Consortium's annual national conference, held in Atlanta, Georgia.
This Festschrift Symposium was in honor of Julian Conrad Juergensmeyer on the occaision of his 45th year of teaching law. The articles associated with the symposium were published in a dedicated edition of The Urban Lawyer, the national journal on state and local government law produced by the American Bar Association.
