Melanie Nelson serves as the Symposium Editor for the Georgia State University Law Review.  Melanie earned her Bachelors of Science in Management at the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2004. She began her Masters studies in City and Regional Planning as an undergraduate. While at Georgia Tech, Melanie served as Public Relations Chair for the National Society of Black Engineers, Community Service Chair of the National Society of College Scholars, and a member of Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honor Society. In 2002, she was selected as the Caterpillar Accounting Scholar, the Women in Transportation Student of the Year, and was recipient of the OMED Tower Award for high achievement.  Melanie graduated in 2004 with Highest Honors and was selected Outstanding Student in Management.  She was formally admitted to the Masters of City Planning Program at Georgia Tech and Georgia State University College of Law in the fall of 2004.  

In addition to her Law Review duties, Melanie serves as Vice President of the Black Law Student Association and is an active student member of the Gate City Bar Association.  She was recognized as the Gate City Bar Scholar in 2006. 

Melanie has formerly worked for the Honorable T. Jackson Bedford, Judge of Fulton County Superior Court and the Honorable Penny Brown Reynolds, Judge of Fulton County State Court. Melanie spent her summer as a Summer Associate at King and Spalding, LLP.
