Mentoring Program
IPLS members are paired with practicing attorneys in the Atlanta IP community. The practicing attorneys serve as mentors to their IPLS mentees. Mentors serve as a point of contact and general advisor to help their mentee advance their career in the IP field. These relationships are pivotal because they serve as one the initial networking opportunities for IPLS members.
Academic Enrichment
There are various issues in the constantly changing IP field. IPLS seeks to create seminars and panel discussions that expose members to issues concerning trademarks, trade secrets, copyrights, and patents. The seminars are led by both leading IP professors and practicing IP attorneys. The IPLS will also co-sponsor some of the events with other GSU law organizations to investigate IP issues in other legal fields. For further information, see upcoming events.
Professional Development
For members interested in patent prosecution, IPLS holds a discussion to evaluate commercial study aids for the USPTO Patent Registration exam. Members are updated constantly about job opportunities through this website or solicitations received from office members. The IPLS is also heavily involved with the Southeastern Intellectual Property Career fair. This fair in conjunction with the GSU Career Services Office gives IPLS members access to the professional IP community.
