Academic Affairs

The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs is charged with ensuring that College of Law students receive a quality legal edition that conforms to the standards set by the American Bar Association, the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia and Georgia State University, as well as policies set by various accrediting agencies and the faculty of the College of Law. 

The Associate Dean oversees academic programs and instruction, creates the academic calendar and schedule, hires and evaluates visiting and adjunct faculty, facilitates communication between the university and College of Law faculty, represents the College of Law on university committees and advises and the notifies individual students and the student body regarding:   

  • Academic policies
    • Exclusion
    • Good standing
    • Probation
  • Applications
    • Amendments
    • Re-admission
  • Bar fitness and admission issues
  • Curricular matters
    • Eligibility for participation in academic programs
    • Independent Research Applications
    • Overloads, underloads, deferments, withdrawals
    • Waivers of prerequisites and/or academic requirements
  • Exam schedules and policies
  • Grading policies and appeals
  • Honor Code and student conduct issues
  • Joint degree programs
  • Special projects
  • Student evaluations of classes and professors
  • Student awards and honors
  • Transfers and transfer credits
