Externships: Putting Theory into Practice

Existing Programs

The Externship Program exists and operates as a partnership between the College of Law, its students, and the greater Atlanta legal community.  The mentorship and training that site supervisors provide to our students better prepares them to meet the demands of the legal profession upon graduation.  We appreciate and value each agency that has chosen to participate in our program and recognize the significance of the educational experience that they provide to our students.

For the convenience of our participating agencies, a current schedule of important dates relating to our program, as well as electronic versions of supervisor evaluation forms, are available here.  We also have provided helpful tips for site supervisors on how to clarify assignments for student externs and give meaningful feedback once assignments are completed.  Our Supervisor Handbook, which provides guidance about our program expectations and the significance of mentorship, is also available for download and review as necessary.

We encourage current site supervisors who have questions about our program or concerns about student externs in their office to contact the Externship Office or one of the faculty Co-Directors of the Externship Program at any time during the semester.
