Judge Glanville - Fulton Superior Court
Description
Judge Ural D. Glanville, Fulton County Superior Court 3 semester hours, one semester requirement. Second and Third year students may apply. Although the Court does not have any particular pre-requisite courses, the Court notes that students who have taken some of the following upper level courses will find the externship particularly fulfilling: Criminal Procedure; Georgia Practice and Civil Procedure; Constitutional Law, Evidence; Legal Research and Writing; Post-Conviction Relief; or Remedies. Furthermore, excellent analysis, research and communication skills are required. Students can expect an assortment of activities and assignments. Notably, a student would assist the Superior Court Judge, under the supervision of the Staff Attorney, with his constitutionally prescribed responsibilities. In this regard, assignments would include: reviewing pleadings and fillings, conducting legal research on issues raised in the Court; drafting legal memorandum and proposed orders; and reviewing the Court's docket to ensure proper and efficient resolution of cases. Furthermore, students will have the opportunity to observe various court proceedings, including; status conferences, hearings and trials. All students who have not previously taken an externship must attend a classroom component at the law school. Consent of the Lawyer Skillls Externship Program faculty required for enrollment.
