Study Space VI Application

Thank you for your interest in Study Space VI, Planning for Disaster:  Place, Population, Culture and the Environment.  This program will take place in Istanbul, Turkey from March 31 – April 6, 2013.

Please complete the online form below to be considered for one of the available spaces.  Participants will be accepted on a rolling basis so early application is encouraged.  The deadline to apply to the program is February 1, 2013 at midnight EST.

Once accepted into the program, a deposit of $500 will be due within 2 weeks; this deposit is refundable until March 1, 2013. The balance of the program fee ($1500) will be due by March 1, 2013 and will be non-refundable at that time. 

Please note that the $2000 program fee includes single-occupancy accommodations (6 nights), breakfast daily, group meals identified in the schedule, speaker honoraria, and field visits including transportation.  Airline tickets must be purchased separately.  Airport ground transportation is not included.  Passports and visas, if required, will be the responsibility of the individual participant.

Please read and accept the release to complete your application: I understand and agree that if I am selected to participate in Study Space VI, I will pay the non-refundable program fee of $2000.  This fee includes single-occupancy accommodations (6 nights), breakfast daily, group meals, speaker honoraria, and field visits including transportation.  Airline tickets must be purchased separately.  Airport ground transportation is not included.

I understand and agree that I will be required to (1) read the study materials provided in advance of the trip; (2) attend all lectures; (3) attend all field trips; (4) attend all evening group study dinners; (5) lead one or more structured group study dinners; and (6) upon my return, I will write for publication a piece of original scholarship incorporating material gathered during my Study Space week. 

Furthermore, I hereby grant permission to the Center for the Comparative Study of Metropolitan Growth at Georgia State University College of Law to publish my effort in any form whatsoever, provided that my authorship is acknowledged.
