Stephen Levett
Deputy Director of the College of Law,BA (Hons) Dunelm Politics,
Solicitor, Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Steering Committee
Member Global Alliance fo Justice.
Trained as a solicitor with the Government Legal Service working for
Ministry of Agriculture before joining the Treasury Solicitor.
Specialised in civil litigation with a particular emphasis on prison
service work.
Joined the College of Law in 1997 specialising in teaching Litigation
and Public and Administrative Law.
In 1999 co-founded the College's first student staffed Legal Advice
Clinic. In 2000 initiated the Colleges own Streetlaw programme working
with prisons in London.
Moved to the College's York branch in 2002 to manage the College's
first ever publically funded pro bono project using students to
delivering legal literacy education in Doncaster, South Yorkshire.
Became the York Branch's Deputy Director (Staffing) in 2002 with
responsibility for recruitment, training and development of all the
branch's academic staff. Continues to teach litigation, public law and
welfare and immigration law.
