Constitutional Infringement on Muslim Rights and Effective Counter-Terrorism
3 - 4 pm - Room 170The presentation will focus upon other countries domestic counter-terror strategies, focusing on South Africa as a primary example. Specifically, Professor Barzegar will discuss how actively
engaging and involving with the overall Islamic community in a homogenous manner lead to a substantial reduction in terror-related threats. The presentation will highlight how this type of policy
reduces constitutional infringements on Muslim rights while yielding more effective counter-terrorism results.

America Invents Act Panel
5 - 6 pm - Room 170The Intellectual Property Law Society will host a panel discussion on various aspects of the America Invents Act (AIA), which will switch the US from a first-to-invent patent system to a first-to-file patent system. This change is one of the biggest changes ever to take place within the US patent system, and the last parts of the Act go into effect on March 16, 2013. Come find out how this change will affect the practice of intellectual property law from our three panelists: Dr. Mary An Merchant and Dr. Brian Shortell of Ballard Spahr and our own Dr. Yaniv Heled of Georgia State College of Law. Dinner will be provided.
