Professor John S. Baker is a visiting professor of law at Georgetown Law School. He is the Dale E. Bennett Professor of Law at Louisiana State University Law Center. He has argued before the U.S. Supreme Court. He recently taught a short course on the separation of powers with Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.
*The 17th Amendment provided for the election of U.S. Senators via popular vote, instead of via state legislatures as originally provided for in the U.S. Constitution.
