Ellen Taylor

Associate Professor of Law

Ellen Taylor teaches contracts, corporations, corporate finance, securities regulation, mergers and acquisitions, and business planning. She grew up in the Atlanta area and graduated from Manhattan School of Music in 1974 with a degree in trumpet performance. She did graduate work in ethnomusicology at UCLA and worked for several years as a musician before returning to Atlanta to attend law school at Emory University.

At Emory, Professor Taylor served as Executive Articles Editor of the Emory Law Journal and received her J.D. with distinction in 1986. From 1986-1991 she worked as an associate attorney in the Atlanta firm of Trotter, Smith & Jacobs, focusing on corporate and securities law matters. Prof. Taylor joined the GSU faculty in the fall of 1992. She served as a visiting professor at Emory University in 1991-92 and 2004, and at Florida State University in the spring of 2000. She has also been a regular summer term visitor for several years at Southern Methodist University's Dedman School of Law. She has published in the areas of contracts, corporations, and securities regulation.
