Nirej SekhonAssistant Professor of LawNirej Sekhon joined the College of Law in 2009. He teaches Criminal Procedure and Criminal Law. Professor Sekhon’s research focuses on the relationships between criminal procedure, criminalization, and political culture. His work evaluates criminal justice norms and institutions through the lenses of democracy and equality theory. Immediately prior to joining Georgia State University, Professor Sekhon completed a fellowship at Stanford Law School. Prior to that, he practiced both criminal and civil law. Professor Sekhon was a public defender at the Defender Association in Seattle Washington. He also litigated employment and civil rights class actions as an associate at Lieff, Cabraser, Heimann & Bernstein. Professor Sekhon clerked for the Honorable M. Margaret McKeown of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Honorable Carlos Moreno of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. He graduated from Cornell University in 1995 and received his JD, magna cum laude, from New York University School of Law in 2000. |
