Charles A. MarvinProfessor of LawCharles A. Marvin has spent his entire career in the public sector, as a government lawyer and a legal educator. The principal foci of his activities have been the regulatory interactions between government agencies and the private sector, law reform and the comparative development of government institutions, and legal education. He has both J.D. and Master of Comparative Law degrees from the University of Chicago. Between his completion of undergraduate studies in Political Science and French at the University of Kansas and his professional legal studies, he was a Fulbright Graduate Student at the University of Toulouse, France, where he studied the History of European Political, Economic and Legal Theory. Following an internship in business competition law at the European Community Commission in Brussels, he taught in law faculties in England and Canada, and worked for over eight years on public law and law reform matters under the Canadian Minister of Justice. In the United States, he has been a full professor of law at Villanova and Georgia State University, located at the latter since 1985. He was a Fulbright Teaching Professor at the Riga Graduate School of Law in Latvia from 2000-2002, and has served as a Fulbright Senior Specialist there after that. He has taught law in Lithuania, France and Bulgaria, and served as an ABA-CEELI consultant to the Deputy Minister of Justice in Kazakhstan, where he worked on amending the Code of Administrative Law. In 1998, he was a USIA visiting lecturer in Cote d'Ivoire, Africa. |
