Lynn Hogue joined the faculty of the College of Law at Georgia State University in 1982. Prior to that he taught at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock School of Law (1977 – 1982) and held visiting appointments at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law (spring 1977), Emory University School of Law (spring 1981) and the Law Department at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point (1995 – 1996). Prior to attending law school he taught English at North Carolina State University in Raleigh (1969 – 1971). Selected Law Practice He is admitted to the bar in Georgia, Arkansas and North Carolina. He has argued cases before the Georgia Supreme Court [Alexander v. General Motors, 267 Ga. 339 (1996)]; the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals [e.g., Roofing and Sheet Metal, Inc., 689 F.2d 982 (11th Cir. 1982)] as well as lower federal and state courts. Military Service He retired in the rank of Lieutenant Colonel from the United States Army Reserve Judge Advocate General's Corps in the fall of 2000 after 21 years of service as an Army lawyer. Public Service I was associated with the Southeastern Legal Foundation, a conservative, public interest law firm headquartered in Atlanta, in a variety of capacities from 1996 through August 2004 serving twice as its chief executive officer:
Professor Hogue is the co-author of National Security and Military Law in a Nutshell, (Thomson/ West 2003), and a treatise on conflict of laws in Georgia. He has published numerous articles on constitutional law and conflict of laws. He is currently working on volume to be entitled The Chief Justiceship of Salmon P. Chase 1864 – 1873 for a series published by the University of South Carolina Press on the Chief Justiceships of the United States Supreme Court. Dr. Hogue is the holder of four degrees. He earned his bachelor’s degree from William Jewell College, his M.A. and Ph.D. in English from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and his law degree from Duke University Anecdote: Professor Hogue played a role in facilitating the professional censure of President Bill Clinton for misconduct in the Jones v. Clinton case, 36 F.Supp.2d 1118 (E.D.Ark.1999). A bar complaint was followed by a pivotal action in the Arkansas Supreme Court, see Hogue v. Neal, 340 Ark. 250 (2000) (mandamus to compel action by the Committee on Professional Conduct); Neal v.
