ATLANTA - Professor Leslie Wolf recently spoke about legal issues on hematopoietic (blood) stem cell therapy in the United States at a conference on stem cells and regenerative medicine near Basel, Switzerland, held March 28-30. The conference, "Mastering the Legal and Ethical Challenges of Present and Future Cell Donation," brought together experts from Europe, the United States, Canada, and Japan to inform policies concerning stem cell donation and regenerative medicine in Switzerland.
"I found it energizing to participate in the conversation at the conference," Wolf stated. "The experiences from around the world help focus attention on areas of consensus and disagreement in the field of blood stem cell donation."
The conference was sponsored in part by the Swiss National Science Foundation, the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences, and Swiss organizations working with stem cells.
