On-Line Application Course web site under construction |
This is a new course offered for the first time in Spring 2010. Students will learn practice skills and ethical decisionmaking through simulating the work of a small, general practice law firm. The course may also include a fieldwork component in which students will observe and analyze the real-life work of a solo or small-firm practitioner, and then produce a written report for class discussion. (The on-line application requests information about the applicant's ability to conduct up to 20 hours of fieldwork during regular working hours [9-5] over the course of the semester (e.g. 5 hours/week for four weeks). If an applicant is otherwise very well qualified for the course but unable to do the fieldwork component because the student is employed full-time during the day, the instructor may consider alternative projects instead of fieldwork for such students.)
The course grade will be based on written work, performance in simulation exercises, and class participation.
Limited enrollment. Consent of the instructor required; interested students must complete an on-line application and submit a resume and unofficial law school transcript.
Priority will be given to students who complete the on-line application and submit their resume and law school transcript by noon, Tuesday, October 20. Students who meet this deadline will be informed by email by 5pm on Friday, October 23 whether they have the instructor's permission to enroll or whether they are on the waiting list.
