Scholarships & Competitions

  • American Bar Association Judicial Intern Opportunity Program The mission of the Judicial Intern Opportunity Program is to provide opportunities to students who are members of racial and ethnic groups that are traditionally underrepresented in the profession.  The program also provides opportunities to students with disabilities, students who are financially disadvantaged and students who identify themselves as gay, bisexual, lesbian and transgendered.  Internships for students with an Intellectual Property Law focus will be offered in Chicago, Los Angeles, Texas and Washington, DC. Students can indicate their interest on their application. These "specialized" spots are limited and any student applying to the program with a request for specialization will also be considered for general litigation internships. Applications should be submitted by December 31, 2009.

  • The 12th Annual Entertainment Law Initiative Writing CompetitionPaper submission deadline is January 4, 2010.

  • The Robert C. Watson Award  The American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) has sponsored this competition for many years to encourage interest in intellectual property issues.  We present the award each October at our annual meeting in Washington, DC.  Postmarked to AIPLA on or before June 30, 2010.

  • Quarterly Journal Publication Staff Competition  The American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) has sponsored this competition for the past few years to encourage interest in intellectual property issues.  The writing competition is held each year in March with the winners announced in August. Students who wish to compete must submit (by fax or by mail) a Request to Compete form and a signed copy of the Candidate Agreement, by close of business (5 p.m.) on Friday, March 5, 2010. Competition packets are mailed to arrive at the candidate's address on Friday, March 12, and must be returned by mail, postmarked no later than the following Monday, March 15, 2010.
