1L Career Readiness Series:

The 1L fall season will kick off with the Career Services Orientation, an introduction to the steps of legal career planning, which is Step #1 of the programing 1Ls need to attend!. This section of the website provides a Career Planning Reference Manual, which contains  extensive career information students should utilized all through law school.

Step #2, 1L Getting on Track: Legal Resume Development & Job Search Workshop, Monday, November 3 at 12:00 and 4:30 p.m., in room 100.  The key elements to the initial entrance into the legal market are a stellar resume and job search action plan.

Step #3, Legal Resume Drop Program, resumes may be submitted November 7-11 and will be reviewed and returned November 19th. This is a chance for students to have their first legal resume critiqued. A two-level review will be conducted: by CSO and attorneys in the legal community provided by the GSU Law Graduate Leadership Council.

Step #4, The Mentor-Shadow Program, matches 1Ls with attorneys and includes a "Shadow" component. This program begins spring semester on January 26, 2009 but program sign ups begin January 8th. This is an exclusive opportunity with limited availability so please save the dates on your calendar!

Step #5, Mock Interviews, with alums and other attorneys January 21-22, 2009. This program helps students prepare for legal recruitment and overall enhancement of interviewing skills. Sign-up January 13-15.

Step #6Job Search Coaching & Counseling One-on-One, these individual sessions will expand on the job search strategies covered in the job search component of the "Getting on Track Workshop" and give each student the opportunity to meet with attorney advisors on staff to develop a tailored summer job search or other summer activities action plan (i.e. study abroad, etc.).
