25th Anniversary

Law Week 2008: Reflecting on Our Past, Focusing on Our Future

Law Day was first proclaimed in 1958 by President Eisenhower to celebrate our country's legal system.  In recognition of Law Day, Georgia State University College of Law annually celebrates Law Week in April.   During Law Week, law student organizations promote the understanding of the law and the American justice system through student-run programs, events, and community service activities.

Law Week 2008 will be held April 7-12.  Our theme of "Reflecting on Our Past, Focusing on Our Future" recognizes the College of Law's 25th anniversary.  The goals of this year's Law Week programming are the participation of College of Law alumni and past supporters and the introduction of the important legal topics and the College of Law to potential new students.

Linda DiSantisWe are honored  to have Alumna Linda DiSantis as this year's Keynote Speaker.  Ms. DiSantis is Executive-In-Residence at The Center for Ethics and Corporate Responsibility and holds a joint appointment in the College of Business and College of Law.  Prior to her appointment, she was the City Attorney of Atlanta.

Although all Law Week activities are coordinated by the Student Bar Association and law student organizations, Law Week hopes to reach out to all students with FREE events, including speakers, information tables, legal games, community service events, and other activities that promote a greater understanding and appreciation of the law and the legal system.

A Law Week calendar featuring all of the activities will be posted on the College of Law’s website in the coming weeks.
