Selection Procedure

The College of Law actively seeks to enroll a student body with diversity in educational, cultural and racial backgrounds that will contribute to a rewarding legal education for the entire student body. The median grade point average for the 2007 entering class was about 3.33, and the median LSAT score was 159. Although the numeric components weigh heavily in the selection process, the Admissions Committee considers the content of the baccalaureate degree, letters of recommendation, the written personal statement of the applicant and extracurricular and community service activities.

In reviewing applicant files, the Admissions Committee takes steps to ensure that its selection procedures and judgments are fair to all applicants and that the students admitted to the College show promise of entering the legal profession with the highest ethical standards. Minorities, women and those who were historically under represented in legal education are encouraged to apply. The College of Law is an equal opportunity educational institution and does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, gender, sexual orientation, age, handicap or ethnic origin in its admission policies.

The Office of Admissions will notify you when we receive your application for admission and the appropriate fee. It is your responsibility to keep current on the status of your file. You can check your application status online. You will be notified of your acceptance by letter. Unless you have received a formal letter of acceptance, it is unwise to make any plans contingent upon acceptance .

Reapplication

Individuals who have previously applied to the College of Law may reapply. Application files of non-matriculants are kept on file for two years. The prior applicant need only submit an online application for admission with an accompanying $50 application fee and any items missing from the previous year. An LSDAS report for a previous year may be used only if it includes all undergraduate coursework completed by the applicant at the time of reapplication. Otherwise, it is necessary to renew an LSDAS subscription. While the Admissions Committee will consider previously submitted material, individuals are encouraged to update and strengthen their files.
