Dean's Welcome

In a democratic society, the law touches virtually every aspect of life. Businesses, governments and individuals all count on the legal profession to help bring order and balance to rights and responsibilities that are ever-changing in response to ever-changing conditions. And these days, characterized by rapid-fire developments with widespread consequences, changes are coming at us faster than ever. The law school you choose in pursuing your degree must prepare you for practice in this world.

Georgia State University College of Law offers a rich environment for this preparation. From your first day of classes you will benefit from hands-on academic programs, state-of-the-art technological aids and a world-class faculty of scholars who bring an impressive range of talents and practical experiences to the classroom.

You also will have Atlanta — a major metropolitan area with legal opportunities at every level of business and government — as a living laboratory. We use this laboratory to our students’ fullest advantage and take pride in the ways we have integrated what our environment has to offer with the teaching of substantive law and practical legal skills.

Of course, our students are our greatest advantage. Diverse and motivated, they come from many different backgrounds and, through our full- and part-time programs, bring a rich variety of life and work experiences to the law school. They consistently have a high bar pass rate, have taken us to national recognition in our mock trial and moot court programs and have earned a reputation as both “smooth and capable” and “rough and ready” out in the real world of law.

We invite you to visit our Web site and come take a tour of our college — talk to our students and faculty, sit in on classes — and see if we are the right law school for you.
