|Georgia State took home the First Place trophy at the John J. Gibbons Criminal Procedure Moot Court Competition held at Seton Hall University on April 8-9, 2005. The team, Kara Cook, Paige Boorman, and coach Lynley Rothstein, also received the award for Best Respondent Brief. Special congratulations to Paige Boorman who was named Best Final Round Oralist.
The competition was comprised of three preliminary rounds and three elimination rounds. Georgia State faced Southern Illinois in the quarter-finals, and Mercer in the semi-finals. The Honorable John J. Gibbons, acting as Chief Justice, named Georgia State the winner over American University in the final round.
Schools represented included American University, Boston University, NYU, New York Law School, Mercer, John Marshall (Chicago), Albany, Roger Williams, and Southern Illinois.
