Congratulations to COL alum Shawn Ellen LaGrua ('87), DeKalb County Solicitor General, who has been named 2006 Solicitor General of the Year by the Association of Georgia Solicitors General.
LaGrua was sworn in as the Solicitor General of DeKalb County in 2004, following her appointment by Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue. For 17 years prior, she worked as an assistant district attorney in three different judicial circuits in Georgia, and as a staff attorney for the Prosecuting Attorney's Council.
As DeKalb's Solicitor General, LaGrua has strengthened existing programs such as the Domestic Violence Unit, the Truancy Intervention Project and the Elder Abuse Unit. She has also developed new programs including the Animal Cruelty Initiative and the DUI Court.
The College of Law joins in applauding Shawn LaGrua as the recipient of this honor from her colleagues in the Solictors General offices of Georgia.
