Students interested in continuing their studies beyond law school may be interested in the fellowships available at UNC to study coastal hazards. The Career Development Fellowship from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Coastal Hazards Center of Excellence includes full tuition for a masters or Ph.D. program and a $25,000 per year stipend.

Students must pursue either a M.S. or Ph.D. with a concentration in either coastal hazards modeling through UNC’s Department of Marine Sciences or hazards management planning through the Department of City and Regional Planning. These programs are designed to be interdisciplinary and include education in disaster law and climate change adaptation.
